YourCreativeBiz.com Uses Eckstein as Guinea Pig for New Interview Format

Vera Raposo, founder of Your Creative Biz had scheduled to interview book publishing expert Kristen Eckstein when an hour before the interview her kitten knocked her phone off the counter and broke it. To make matters worse, her recording software for Skype wasn’t working. Rather than postpone the interview, which had already been postponed once due to an emergency, Raposo and Eckstein brainstormed another idea: a Skype chat.

Written interviews have been conducted before, and are especially common to magazines, but neither Raposo nor Eckstein had ever seen screenshots of a Skype chat as a blog post or interview. “I’m always game for something new,” said Eckstein.

The result is a fun interview almost as good as readers being a fly on the wall of Raposo’s private Skype chat with Eckstein. Complete with stills of silly emoticons, candid questions and fun banter, the interview was a success.

Raposo and Eckstein both agree it’s better to be creative when circumstances strike than throw in the towel and give up. “If we’d given up or tried to reschedule again, it wouldn’t have been quite as interesting. It was fun to type an interview in realtime and I think it would be a great medium for interviews conducted on Facebook fan pages and social media groups. This format also makes it easy for people to find answers to their questions, and not have to listen to a noisy audio or video,” Eckstein said.

100% of Attendees at CT Women’s Conference Left with Outlines to Books

The Connecticut Women’s Alliance hosted their third annual women’s conference on April 25, 2013. Award-winning speaker, Kristen Eckstein, was one of their breakout workshop speakers. “It was an exciting event,” Eckstein stated, “especially since that day was my birthday and I got to be a part of empowering many of the women who attended.”

Of the 30-plus people in Eckstein’s workshop, only a few of them knew at the beginning of the workshop that they wanted to write a book. “Only four hands went up when I asked them,” Eckstein said, “and I was confident the entire room would leave not only with a book idea, but a completed outline.”

The workshop ran just over one hour and Eckstein walked the attendees through her exclusive systems for outlining and organizing a book. Every single attendee had a completed book outline and synopsis for each chapter written before they left. They even had time to learn the pros and cons of the most common methods to get published.

“I was thrilled!” Eckstein said. “It was amazing to watch women who had no idea they even wanted to write a book leave with their outlines done.”

Eckstein plans to take this workshop on tour to women’s business conferences nationwide. Click here to book Eckstein to conduct this special new workshop at your event today.
